829 chess-players from all over Europe are fighting for the titles of European Champion in open section and among ladies!
We are very grateful that many guests and partners have attended the opening ceremony. Vice President of ECU, Gunnar Bjornsson, and ECU Secretary General, Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, were among them and welcomed all participants on behalf of the European Chess Union.
Secretary of the city Katowice, Maciej Stachura, was also present. We are really grateful for it, our tournament could never be organised on such a level without the support of the city Katowice.
All the chess-players were also welcomed by Łukasz Turlej – FIDE Secretary General, once again in Katowice, on one of the biggest chess events in the world!
Among players we have such stars like Navara, Adams, Grandelius or ladies who held titles of Women World Champion – Kosteniuk and Stefanova.To follow the event and be up to date with everything that is happening in the venue, you can watch the live broadcast in English lead by the world-class commentator Fiona Steil-Antoni who is commentating alongside IM Piotr Nguyen.
